WYSPA.fun: 200 Years of Tradition and Entertainment in the Heart of the Giant Mountains
ISLAND.fun is a unique point on the map of gastronomy, entertainment, leisure and recreation in Karkonosze, located in Kowary, only 10 minutes from Karpacz. The history of this place started more than 200 years ago !!!
When Johann Sigmund Gebauer, the owner of a linen strip factory, became the richest man in Kowary, he decided to build a park accessible to everyone. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was one of the most popular bathing places (it had its German name: Inselbad) in the Giant Mountains.
After the Second World War, the site continued to be very popular. There was a restaurant, canoe rental or a trampoline for jumping into the water. Later, the complex deteriorated for many years and access to the island was banned over time for safety reasons.
A thriving entertainment oasis from scratch
In 2019, the Island fell into the hands of a private investor who decided to restore it to its glory. Its renovation took more than two years, with new attractions planned for each year of expansion.
The island is surrounded by a body of water of almost 4 hectares, and itself occupies an area of 3,500m2, to which more than 3,000 tonnes of top-quality white sand were brought! It is interesting to note that this sand, which is unparalleled in Europe, comes from Bolesławiec, and the clay washed from it is used to make world-famous ceramics!
The viewing terraces on the Island are as large as 400 m2 and the piers more than 600 m2. The Island can accommodate more than 1,000 people at a time. They have 200 seats under the pergolas and on the terraces and 100 seats in the restaurant itself. The Island opened on 15 July 2021 and welcomes visitors in all seasons.

The restaurant & fishmonger are open all year round, in summer you'll also find grilled delicacies! Fried trout, roast pork knuckle and Hungarian-style pancakes are our guests' favourites, but you'll find many more original dishes here. In winter during lunch
warm yourself up by one of the fireplaces, while in summer a meal is best enjoyed ON THE BEACH WITH A VIEW OF SNĚŽKA!

Summer on the island is simply ... a TOTAL flight of the senses ! The beach with a view of Sněžka was an incentive, because we have so much more of that good stuff ! Terraces and pergolas invite guests to dine outdoors, but that's not all. Above all, we focus on CHILDREN - that's why you'll always find attractions for the little ones right next to the seating area !
The island has been designed so that YOU the parent, grandparent, grandparent, aunt and uncle, can relax while keeping an eye on your playing kids! Let's go! The island's CASTLE invites you to take a ferry (great for families with pushchairs), pedal boats, kayaks and SUP boards that can take you to the lighthouse, the water curtain, a pirate ship abandoned by pirates or the hidden glass table, where you can take a great souvenir photo as you stand on the water! Sports fans can battle it out on the volleyball court, take part in fitness classes on the beach or sit back and relax on the cushioned spectator area. Cool down with a bubbly drink, ice cream, in the surfboard shower you'll find on the beach or just - jump in the water.
For those who want to take a breather, we have a quiet zone on one of the terraces - available for adults only. You can also hide away on the VIP terrace in the treetops, which is particularly popular with couples in love.
Private Beaches and Interesting Attractions
For the totally discerning, we particularly recommend a thermal bath with jacuzzi, snacks and prosecco, ON A PRIVATE BEACH, which you can rent just for your family and friends, even for the whole day!
But if that wasn't enough, hiring a floating raft on which to chill out with friends, on the water, far away from the Island madness is also an option! But if you want to dance, you can meet the DJ under the terrace in the treetops - yes, at our place the bikini party starts in the morning!

Winter Wonders: Walruses, Hot Baths and Mountain Treats
Winter is a time for thrill seekers on the Island! Start your walrushing adventure with the Island, enjoy a briny hot bath in a thermal bath under a starry sky. Thirsty? The Island staff will bring a warming drink straight to your bath! Hungry after skiing and mountain hiking?
The restaurant on the water will accommodate not only adults but also the youngest kids, who can relax in the play area after their meal. Don't despise dessert, the island meringue is not forgiving! You can also go for a walk. Piers, terraces, around the Island, views of the Krkonoše range guaranteed.
